'To make an elephant out of a mosquito.' S/S 09

Peters' characterizing play between extremes in material, print, silhouette and concept played an important roll. The show opened with the sound of trumpets which introduced the silhouette of an elephant. Sexy sweaters and dresses where varied with smart and funny finds in detail and silhouette which often only could be discovered at second sight. The prints of the collection contained a literal morph of a mosquito into an elephant and a striped print which from close appeared to exist out of elephants as little as mosquito's.

This collection is based on an irritation, but at the same time appreciation that the neighbor, an artist, media and also I 'make and elephant out of a mosquito'. But the funny not existing translation of the Dutch proverb triggered my imagination anyway. It has become a happy and poppy collection - where Peters smartly found a balance between literally and subtile translations with a considerable amount of humor ánd elegance - in which there is more going on than you think to see at first sight.
